I am asked all the time, how do I make money with Facebook? A lot of my prospects focus on selling their products and want to know how they can get people to buy their stuff immediately.
Unfortunately, Facebook and any other social media marketing sites don’t work that way. When it comes to selling your product on Facebook and other social media marketing sites, you have to build relationship, connection and rapport. Once you build relationship connection and rapport on Facebook and the other social media marketing sites, that’s when sales will start to roll in. However, you have to have a certain foundation in place before you even start trying to make a sale on Facebook. So, in this article I am going to tell you exactly what you need to make Facebook marketing work for you.
- You need a website/blog- It’s no secret that Facebook can close up shop anytime. Remember the ever so popular Myspace? Where is it now? A lot of people tell me they are just going to focus their efforts on building their Facebook list.
While it’s great they are going to use Facebook for their marketing, its bad business to focus on Facebook alone. Here’s why. When you market your products and services on Facebook and get leads and followers, you have no control of what happens. At any given moment, Facebook can shut down, have a glitch or fall off the face of this earth. And, guess what happens? All of your hard earned followers will go right down with Facebook. That is why it is important to have a main hub where you control 100% of the content.
- Free Sample- It’s no secret marketing online is becoming saturated. No matter what type of business you are in, you will always have competition. That’s why it’s crucial for you to create a way to stand out from the crowd. One of the best ways of separating yourself from your peers is offering a free gift as part of your marketing strategy. Simply put, a free gift is a sampling of your product. This can range from an eBook, audio cd, white paper, video training series, or even a tangible product. The key to making the free gift work for you is to give your prospects a sample of what it would be like to work with you.
- Something to Sell- When it comes to Facebook marketing, you actually have to have something to sell. I see way too many people directing traffic back to their website and they don’t have the important marketing elements in place (opt-in, sales page, etc.) to make it easy for their prospects to raise their hand and say yes I want to hear more from you.
- Email Marketing System- When prospects visit your site 9/10 they will not purchase from you right away. That’s where that free gift comes in handy. In exchange for the free gift, they will give you their email information. Once you have their email information, you can follow up with them over time. And once you start building a relationship, you can start offering your products and services that serve your clients well.
- Post Relevant Content- Posting relevant content is where most people get stuck. They usually post links to their sales pages and products all day. Hey and there is nothing wrong with shameless self-promotion, but when it comes to marketing on Facebook you had to be a little more strategic.
- Automation –The most common complaint I get is: “I don’t have time to do Facebook Marketing.” I get it. It can get quite time consuming if you get sucked into Facebook. However, there are some brilliant tools that make your Facebook marketing a seamless process. You can plan your posts to go out for a week or even a month in advance. This way you can focus more on building relationships and engaging your fans on a daily basis.
- Engagement- Let’s faces it; social media is about building relationships. And the best way to build relationships is by interacting with your fans and followers. To engage with your fans, you simply comment on their posts, like their posts, ask those questions, get them to do something, and address them by name. Of course, there are many other ways to engage with your fans, but those are the most common ways.
When it comes to Facebook marketing, you want to have a solid marketing strategy that helps you get more Facebook fans, but more importantly increases your sales.
